YHC WOMEN'S TENNIS RESULTS FROM THE 2ND ANNUAL YHC INVITATIONAL 
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris Women's Tennis hosted the 2^nd Annual YHC Invitational this past weekend. Emmanuel, Reinhardt, Montevallo, Newberry, and Brenau all traveled down to the Enchanted Valley to participate in the bracket style tournament. YHC's Futaba Saito was the lone singles East bracket winner taking down the green bracket.

DRAW STRUCTURE:
Bracket order -

1. Blue
2. Red
3. Green
4. Purple
5. Orange
6. Yellow

• East is the main draw.
• The first round loser from the east moves to the west draw.
• If a player loses in the west draw, they get moved down to the south draw.
• Second round loser of the east draw then gets moved to the play-offs draw.

SINGLES:
Simone Mercier represented the Mountain Lions in the East Blue bracket and Viviana Gomez in the East Red bracket. Mercier won her quarterfinals match in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). She advanced to play Newberry's Margarite Roshka and lost (6-0, 6-1) in the semifinals. Gomez cruised past the quarterfinals (6-3, 6-0) and scrapped out a (3-6, 6-3, 10-6) semifinals victory. Emmanuel's Shatavisa Ghosh bested Gomez in the finals (7-6, 4-6, 10-7).

Sophomore Futaba Saito won the East Green bracket. She won her quarter and semifinal matches in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) and (6-1, 6-3). Saito's opponent retired in the championship match, giving her the victory.

Freshman Maud Scholten competed in the West Green Bracket. She won her semifinals match (6-3, 6-1) and the finals (1-6, 6-4, 10-8).

Andreia Semeano played in the East Purple bracket and lost in the quarterfinals (7-5, 6-0). After the loss, she shifted to the West bracket and picked up two wins (6-1, 4-6, 10-7), (7-5, 6-4).

Holly Ashford made it all the way to the finals of the East Orange bracket where she faced Montevallo's Erika Freire. Freire won the match (6-4, 6-0). Ashford won her opening match by default and took the semifinals (6-3, 5-7, 10-3).

DOUBLES: 
Holly Ashford and Callie Stanfield lost 6-2 to Montevallo's Gabriella De Jesus and Latizia Bojara. The pair lost their second match 6-3.

Simone Mercier and Viviana Gomez lost 6-2 to Newberry's Renee Dorval and Lina Sarhan. The duo picked up the 6-2 victory in the next match. They battled in their third match but lost 7-5.

Futaba Saito and Maud Scholten fell 6-3 against Reinhardt's Nina Thomet and Pilar Becerra. The pair fought hard but lost their second match (7-6, 4)

Ashford teamed up with Andreia Semeano for a match. The duo lost 6-3.

Stanfield and Semeano paired up for a 6-4 win over Reinhardt's Mia Hoeddinghaus and Ariella Burnstein.

The Mountain Lions travel to Sumter, South Carolina for the ITA Regionals starting on Saturday at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
