YOUNG HARRIS, Ga | The Mountain Lions Women's Soccer team took down the Lions of Emanuel University, 5-1 on Saturday afternoon (Sept 21) at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse field. Young Harris used their high-powered offense, with five different players recording a goal, to come out victorious in the Conference Carolinas matchup.

"Each game we have been getting closer to our true capability. We had a rough start to the season. I have been telling everyone that has asked about us getting our first win; to keep watching, because we have been progressing each game versus difficult opponents such as Clayton State. It was a special first win of the season today over Emmanuel." Continuing, "The message for us is to compete, we have the talent, we do the work, it is about winning individual battles and competing every game." Concluding, "They went out and competed today, now we have to carry that on, our mantra moving forward is to compete, and when you compete, good things happen." 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:  

• YHC outshot Emanuel 18 (10 SOG) to 15 (6 SOG). 

• Emanuel scored first in the 6th minute with a goal from Jillian Aldrich. 

• The Mountain Lions responded in the 12th minute with a goal by Shania Harris. 

• Betsy Bu added on for YHC with a goal in the 21st minute, making the score 2-1. 

• Anita Roese made the score 3-1, with a goal only 30 seconds later in the 21st minute. 

• In the 56th minute, Chloe Schmidhuber stretched the lead to 4-1 with a goal to the bottom left corner. 

• Meghan Goolsby added the final touch with a goal in the 57th minute to make the score 5-1. 

• Shania Harris recorded three assists in the match today. 

• Mckenna Peaster was excellent between the pipes, only allowing one goal and recording five saves throughout the match.
