DUE WEST, S.C. | The Mountain Lions Women's Soccer team traveled to Huggins Field at Erskine College this afternoon (Sept 24) for a conference matchup with the Flying Fleet. Young Harris headed home victorious today, using an offensive explosion and stifling defense to defeat Erskine and capture the Conference Carolinas victory. In the win, Mountain Lions midfielder Shania Harris broke the YHC women's soccer NCAA era record for goals in a game (4) and points in a game (9). With the big performance from Harris, Young Harris picked up their second win of the season; Harris now has six goals and four assists (16 points) on the young season.

"We took another step in the right direction. We need to continue to put away our chances as the season goes on. I am proud of our teams effort and ability to find the back of the net today, but this one is behind us. Now we prepare for a tough match up against Barton on Saturday."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:  

• YHC outshot Erskine 24 (18 SOG) to 2 (1 SOG). 

• Shania Harris scored by way of a penalty kick in the 17th minute to give YHC a 1-0 lead. 

• Shania Harris would add on in the 24th minute, scoring a goal to make the lead 2-0. 

• Adoria Sanders made the lead 3-0 with a goal in the 25th minute. 

• The Mountain Lions stretched the lead to 4-0 by way of a goal from Ana Ferrante. 

• Selma McCurry added a goal for Erskine, giving YHC a 4-1 lead heading into halftime. 

• Shania Harris added two more goals to her stellar day, scoring in the 53rd and 59th minutes to give Young Harris a 6-1 lead. 

• Betsy Bu added the final touch for the Mountain Lions, scoring a goal in the 65th minute to stretch the lead to 7-1. 

• Kaylie Hayes and Mckenna Peaster split the time in goal and were able to hold Erskine to one goal on the day. 

UP NEXT 
The Mountain Lions women's soccer team will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 28) at 2:00 p.m., where they take on Barton College at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
