Box Score Young Harris, GA| The YHC women's tennis team took on Belmont Abbey College on Friday (Apr. 5) afternoon in Young Harris. Young Harris won one of two doubles matches, missing out on the point; the Mountain Lions split the singles matches, winning three of six against the Crusaders.
Young Harris moved to 7-9 overall this season and Belmont Abbey moved to 13-9 overall on the season. The Mountain Lions return to action on Saturday (Apr. 6) where they take on the Converse University Valkyries in Spartanburg, S.C. at 1 p.m.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MARCY O'CONNOR
"The girls faced a tough battle and fought hard today! It shows in the scores with four courts going into third sets that it was anyone's match today and even though it didn't go our way I am happy with how they competed!"
O'Connor added, "Belmont Abbey is a strong team and competed very well. I am proud of how the girls played and represented our program! I want to say thank you to our community and YHC athletics for showing up to support our tennis teams. Your support is greatly appreciated!"

Simone Mercier and Holly Ashford were victorious in their doubles match, taking down their opponents (6-1).

Hanley Riner and Mackenzie McCarthy (7-5) and Elizabeth Vollmin and Leilany Sanchez (6-2) of Belmont Abbey took down their YHC opponents to earn the overall point in doubles, which proved to be the deciding factor in the Crusaders win.

Luciana Bejarano (4-6, 7-5, and 6-1), Viviana Gomez (6-3 and 6-2), and Meghna Mallath (6-4 and 7-5) each won their singles matches for the Mountain Lions.
