SUMTER, S.C. | Young Harris Women's Tennis lost 4-2 to Erskine College in the Semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Saturday.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MARCY O'CONNOR:
"Unfortunately, it didn't go our way today, but the girls overcame so much adversity throughout the season and in the tournament to win two rounds on the first day with an upset of the #3 seed."
O'Connor added, "They fought so hard today and we were so close, but we couldn't pull out the win, but I am so proud of them and everything they have put into this season!"
INSIDE THE MATCH:
- Erskine College won #1 and #2 doubles 6-3 and 6-1 to take the doubles point and the 1-0 lead.
- Viviana Gomez won her line four singles match in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 to put the Mountain Lions on the board.
- Erskine won line six and line five singles to extend their lead to 3-1.
- Luciana Bejarano extended the match with her 6-2, 6-3 line three singles win which made it 3-2 and brought Young Harris within one.
- Emily Bush fought hard in line two singles, but ultimately, Erskine's Ariana Jativa won the match 7-5, 6-4.
- Jativa's victory secured the 4-2 victory for Erskine and a chance at the championship tomorrow.
