SPARTANBURG, SC| A conference quarterfinal matchup between the Mountain Lions and Belmont Abbey College was expected to be a good one. Just a couple of weeks ago, these teams faced each other in a tight game that went to double overtime. Tonight, in a tough battle with the Crusaders, the Mountain Lions fell 48-60 in the Conference Carolinas quarterfinals (Mar 8th). JaMari Frederick led YHC with 18 points on the night.
The Mountain Lions finish the season 16-14 overall and 11-8 in their first season as part of the Conference Carolinas. The Crusaders will advance to play in the Conference Carolinas semifinals.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· JaMari Frederick made 7-18 from the field and hit 4-13 from beyond the arc.
· Crystal Corley and Lily Griffith neared double-digit boards, each with 9.
· In the second quarter, Trinity Edwards ended a 12-0 Belmont Abbey run with a jumper that revived the Mountain Lion offense. YHC came back from a 10-20 deficit and was within three heading into the half.
· Peyton Nation and Abigail Crain were staples in the Crusader offense. Nation put up 19 points, shooting 75% from FG. Crain put up 17 points.
· Belmont Abbey had 34 points in the paint to Young Harris' 14.
