Young Harris Dominates North Greenville in Overtime

Tigerville, S.C.| The Mountain Lions defeated the Crusaders on the road in their final game of the regular season on Wednesday (Feb. 28) evening. YHC led NGU by six points at the intermission and added on to their lead in the 3rd quarter, leading by nine points after three. In the fourth quarter, the Crusaders fought back and knotted the game up at 50 points with 20 seconds left to take the game into overtime. In the overtime period, the Mountain Lions wreaked havoc on the Crusaders, putting up twenty points, in route to a 70-58 win; with the victory, Young Harris will host the first round of the Conference Carolinas tournament starting on Sunday. 

YHC advanced to 15-13 overall and 11-7 in Conference Carolinas play to boost their KPI ranking. NGU dropped to 16-9 overall and 10-8 in Conference Carolinas matchups. The Mountain Lions will return to action on Monday (Mar. 4) evening at 6 p.m. when they host the winner of the Converse vs King game that will also be held at The Harp Recreation and Commencement Center in Young Harris, Georgia on Sunday evening. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

  • Crystal Corley dominated once more, scoring 25 points, gathering 15 rebounds, and recording six steals. 

  • Kamryn Bates scored 17, shooting 80% from the field. 

  • The Crusaders' leading scorer was Tabitha Littlefield, who scored 18 points. 

  • YHC scored 44 points in the paint, compared to NGU's 30. 

  • The game included four lead changes and the game was tied on seven separate occasions. 

  • The Mountain Lions outrebounded the Crusaders 45 to 37, largely due to Crystal Corley's 15 boards.
