YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Mountain Lions women's volleyball team honored their eight seniors just before match time on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon at the Harp Recreation and Commencement Center. When the ceremony was over, the starters were announced, and the first serve had been dealt, Young Harris was ready for the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. The Mountain Lions overwhelmed Erskine from set one until the match was finished. The purple and white attacked early and often, and the Flying Fleet could not recover from the bombardment of attacks coming from the Mountain Lions side of the net.
Congratulations to Mountain Lions volleyball seniors: Sophie Bearden, Joha Bernis, Athena Constantinides, Lily Hidalgo, Nicole Klucharich, Shelby Mullins, Lorin Tidick, and Chase Vaigneur!
QUOTING HEAD COACH JENNY MICHAEL:
"I am so excited and happy for them and their teammates. We knew coming into today that we had to navigate and manage our emotions, there was a lot of implications for our postseason aspirations on the outcome of this match. We needed to stay focused and have our thoughts control our feelings instead of getting caught up in all that emotion; it is one thing to talk about it as a coach, but it is another thing for the athletes to put it into action. Once we settled down after the first 15 points of that first set, we did a nice job, and I am so excited for the seniors and their teammates." Continuing, "we are going to enjoy this moment of fellowship with family, friends, and teammates and get back to work tomorrow."
