MACON, Ga. | The Mountain Lions women's basketball team took on the Mercer University Bears on Wednesday (Oct. 30) evening on the road. Young Harris had the opportunity to play an exhibition game against Mercer and traveled the three-and-a-half-hour journey to do so. Kamryn Bates and the Mountain Lions came out of the gate ready to go, and at the first timeout, were within one point of Mercer (10-9). In totality, Young Harris battled hard but eventually fell to the Bears. YHC took the opportunity to play a higher level of competition prior to the start of their regular season next Monday (Nov. 4) evening. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

• Kamryn Bates led the Mountain Lions with seven points from the PG spot, shooting 3-8 from the field in 32 minutes of game action. 

• Chassidy Fedd and Annalise Malone each scored six points; the former led the team with seven rebounds and the latter racked up five boards.  

• Chelsy Bautista (16 points) and Kayla Smith (15 points) led Mercer in scoring.  

• The Mountain Lions best quarter of basketball came in the second, being outscored by just two points (11-9). 

• The Bears shot 51.1% (23-45) from the field, while the Mountain Lions shot 17% (8-47). 

• The Mountain Lions recorded 18 offensive rebounds, with 34 in total.
