ITA Southeast Regional Results
SUMTER, S.C. | Young Harris women's tennis competed in the ITA Southeast Regional this past weekend.
Maud Scholten had the best showing for the Mountain Lions. Scholten found her groove in the consolation bracket and made it to the round of 16.

Futaba Saito all battled to pick up big wins in singles. Our doubles teams battled from behind to get close wins over Coker and Erskine. It was great to see us compete in that environment as we prepare for the season ahead."
SINGLES
Viviana Gomez and
Futaba Saito picked up wins in the opening round of the main bracket. Gomez won 6-1,3-6,6-2 and advanced to play Coker's Jade Bellegy in Saturday's round of 64. Bellegy took the match 6-3,6-2 to advance to the round of 32. Saito won her opening match against 5-7, 7-5, 6-2. Futaba fell 6-4, 6-0 to Newberry's Emma Arnal in the round of 64. Futaba picked up another win 6-4, 7-5 this time in the consolation bracket and advanced all the way to the round of 32.
Simone Mercier and
Maud Scholten made it all the way to the round of 16 in the consolation bracket. Scholten won 3-6, 7-5, [10-8] then bested Sofia Pola in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16.
Simone Mercier fought hard and had two opponents retire mid match which paved her path to the round of 16.
DOUBLES
Both YHC doubles pairs won a doubles match before falling in the next round. Mercier and Gomez won 9-8, [7-1] against Coker University, while Scholten and Saito took their opening match 8-5 over Erskine.
