AUGUSTA, Ga. | Augusta University rallied to win four singles to defeat Young Harris College 4-3 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Tuesday (April 18) afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.
The Jaguars improved to 10-12 overall and to 2-5 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 9-14 and 1-6. Both teams have qualified for the PBC Tournament that begins Friday (April 21) in Columbus, Georgia.
INSIDE THE SCORESHEET:
- The Mountain Lions opened up a 1-0 lead after claiming the doubles point as Simone Mercier and Meghna Mallath, and Joselyne Chapui and Emily Bush won their matches.
- Augusta took a 3-1 lead after the Jaguars claimed wins at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles matches.
- YHC fought back to tie the match at 3 after Bush and Mercier won their singles matches at No. 2 and 3 respectively.
- The Jaguars won the match as Madeline Frediani outlasted Chapui at No. 1 singles in three sets - 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
