YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Letiya Reeves scored 31 points to lead five Columbus State University players in double figures as the Cougars defeated Young Harris College 94-81 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday (Feb. 8) evening at the Harp Recreation & Commencement Center.
The Cougars improved to 14-7 overall and to 8-5 in the league, while the Mountain Lions fell to 10-11 and 6-7. Young Harris travels to Augusta, Georgia, Saturday (Feb. 11) for a 1:30 p.m. PBC game against Augusta University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- After YHC took a 6-4 lead, Columbus State took command of the game by going on a 15-2 run to open up a 19-8 lead after an Amber Abusbeih layup with 3:22 left in the first quarter.
- YHC got as close as six points (27-21) after a Dustie Obah three-pointer with 7:33 left before half, but that would be as close as they would get.
- CSU lead 55-42 at the break and extended its lead to as many as 23 points (78-55) in the opening 90 seconds of the fourth quarter.
- Mackenzie Johnson recorded her 16th double double of the season as she scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Mountain Lions.
- Obah added 15 points for Young Harris, while Kaela Ward added 10 more.
- YHC held a 38-32 edge on the glass, but the Cougars scored 19 points on 15 Young Harris turnovers.
- Trinity Edwards posted nine points and five rebounds.
