DAHLONEGA, Ga. | Natalie Maguire scored three times to lead the University of North Georgia past Young Harris College 7-1 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday (Sept. 14) evening at the UNG Soccer Complex.
The Nighthawks improved to 4-1-1 overall and to 2-0-0 in the Peach Belt with their win over their Blood Mountain rivals, while the Mountain Lions remained winless in six tries, including twice in the PBC. YHC hosts Albany State University in a 1 p.m. PBC match Saturday (Sept. 17) at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Alexis Scarpinato scored her second goal of the season at the 73:52 mark for the Mountain Lions on a penalty kick, which was awarded after a UNG player was called for a handball inside the box.
- The Nighthawks held a 19-10 lead on shots, but only a 11-6 margin on goals.
- Scarpinato, Elicia Mulvaney and Maya Cramer had two shots each for the Mountain Lions. Tess Preston had a shot in the ninth minute that ricocheted off the crossbar for YHC.
- Mckenna Peaster recorded four saves in goal for Young Harris.
