YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Ava Martin scored a goal in the 64th minute as Georgia College & State University claimed a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Sept. 10) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse FIeld.
The Bobcats improved to 2-3-1 overall and to 1-0-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-5-0 and 0-1-0. YHC returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 14) when they travel to Dahlonega, Georgia, for a 5 p.m. PBC match against its Blood Mountain rival University of North Georgia.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- After a scoreless first half, the Bobcats took advantage of a turnover in the box to score their goal. It was Martin's first goal of 2022.
- Georgia College held a slight edge in shots 14-11, but the Mountain Lions had a 7-6 margin of those shots on goal.
- Thea Juul had five shots, while Viktoria Einsbor and Alexis Scarpinato had two each.
- Mckenna Peaster had five stops in goal for the Mountain Lions.
