DUE WEST, S.C. | The Young Harris College volleyball team earned a split of their two matches on the final day of the Erskine Invitational Saturday (Aug. 27) inside the Galloway Center.
The Mountain Lions wrapped up the tournament with a 25-19, 26-24 and 25-17 sweep over Clark Atlanta University for the program's first-ever three-set victory. YHC nearly won both matches Saturday, but the University of West Georgia held off Young Harris 28-30, 25-19, 25-15, 20-25 and 16-14 in the first match of the day.
The Mountain Lions are 1-2 and will return to the Harp Recreation and Commencement Center Tuesday (Aug. 30) for a 6 p.m. non-conference match against North Greenville University.

Clark Atlanta
- The Mountain Lions hit .257 as a team in the sweep.
- Chase Vaigneur led YHC with 12 of the team's 48 kills. Sophie Bearden had nine, Lily Hidalgo had eight and Jaime Thomas had seven.
- Mollie Lawrence posted 19 assists, while Alex Boydstone had 14 and Joha Bernis has 12 more.
- Bernis had four service aces, while Boydstone and Vaigneur had two each.
- Lawrence led the way with 10 digs, while Bernis had eight and Boydstone added seven.
- Shelby Mullins led the Mountain Lions with three blocks (2 solo, 1 assist).
 West Georgia
- The Mountain Lions hit .372 in the first set as YHC outlasted the Wolves. UWG took sets two and three before YHC took set four 25-20 behind .303 hitting to force the deciding fifth set.
- West Georgia took five straight points to jump out to a 14-11 lead in set five, but Young Harris fought back to tie the match at 14 behind two Hidalgo kills and a Lawrence service ace. However, the Wolves took the final two points to claim the win.
- Vaigneur and Shelby Mullins combined for 30 kills. Vaigneur had a career-high 18 kills, while Mullins had 12. Hidalgo posted nine more.
- Lawrence distributed a career-high 37 assists and five service aces. Bearden had three, while Vaigneur and Kori Still had two each.
- Bernis (26) and Lawrence (12) finished in double figures in digs, while Still and Vaigneur had nine apiece.
- Mullins set a season-high with seven total blocks (1 solo, 6 assist) as the Mountain Lions registered 10 total blocks. Thomas and Bearden had three block assists each.Â
