YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lander University claimed a 5-2 Peach Belt Conference women's tennis victory over Young Harris College Monday (March 21) afternoon at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennix Complex.
The Bearcats improved to 11-4 overall and to 1-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 4-9 and 0-1. YHC returns to the court Sunday (March 27) with a noon PBC match against Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions took a 1-0 lead after claiming the doubles point.
- Zoe Freke and Meghna Mallath defeated the  No. 25-ranked duo of Emily Ineson and Mille Elsborg at the first flight 6-2.
- YHC claimed the point when Joselyne Chapui and Catarina Marcko Ferreira recorded a 7-6 (3) win at the third flight.
- Chapui claimed the lone singles win for the Mountain Lions. She dropped her first set 6-2 before ralling to take 6-2 wins in sets two and three at No. 2 singles.
