YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Alyssa Walker scored 16 points as Tusculum University recorded a 61-46 women's basketball victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Nov. 26) afternoon on the first day of the YHC Classic at The Harp Recreation and Commencement Center.
The Mountain Lions fell to 2-1, while the Pioneers improved to 4-1. YHC will host Emory & Henry College at 2 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 27) on the final day of the Classic.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- YHC took a 10-3 lead on JaMari Frederick layup with 4:13 to take its largest lead of the game.
- The Pioneers took a 16-12 lead at the end of the first quarter before the Mountain Lions got within three points at 21-18 on a jump shot by Dustie Obah with 6:24 left before the half.
- Tusculum took control of the game as they scored the next 14 unanswered points to take a 17-point lead (35-18) on a short jumper by Jami Tham with 1:34 to go.Deidre Cheremond had eight points during the decisive run, while Tham accounted for the other six.
- Kalen Surles led the Mountain Lions with 12 points and six rebounds, while Mackenzie Johnson nearly posted a double double with nine points and nine rebounds.
- Obah collected nine points and six rebounds, while Kaela Ward had seven points.
