Lander spoils Senior Day, rallies for five-set win over Mountain Lions

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lander University rallied for a 22-25, 19-25, 25-15, 25-16 and 25-7 Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball victory over Young Harris College on Senior Day Saturday (Oct. 29) afternoon at the Harp Recreation and Commencement Center.

The Bearcats improved to 19-8 overall and to 10-4 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-24 and 0-11. Young Harris returns to action Friday (Nov. 4) when they travel to Aiken, South Carolina, for a 5 p.m. PBC match against the University of South Carolina-Aiken.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

The Mountain Lions recognized their three seniors - manager Maya Martinez and players Jessica Beckner and Alex Pierre - prior to the match.
Chase Vaigneur led Young Harris with 10 kills, while Pierre, Lily Hidalgo and Shelby Mullins each posted eight more.
Alex Boydstone paced YHC with 16 assists, while Mollie Lawrence had 10 more.
Joha Bernis collected 20 digs, while Vaigneur had 12. Boydstone tallied nine and Lawrence had seven.
The Mountain Lions recorded five team blocks. Lorin Tidick and Mullins had three total blocks, while Pierre had two more.
