YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Mikkel Goeling scored twice as the Young Harris College men's soccer team recorded a 3-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over the University of South Carolina-Aiken Saturday (Oct. 15) afternoon on Senior Day at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 7-4-3 overall and to 6-3-2 in the league, while the Pacers fell to 2-10-0 and 1-8-0. YHC wraps up its regular season Saturday (Oct. 22) when they travel to Morrow, Georgia, for 3:30 p.m. PBC match against Clayton State University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions recognized their seven seniors - Henrik Timgren, Peter Rystad, Ben Mackay, Edoardo Righetti, James Webster, Tyler Kasten and Rico Tarquinio - prior to the match.
- Goeling, who has scored five goals in the past two matches, got YHC on the scoreboard at the 17:47 mark on a penalty kick after a player was taken down in the box.
- Pato Padilla scored his third goal of the season off a pass from Charlie Wilde 15 minutes later to double the Mountain Lion lead.
- Goeling, who has eight goals this season, put the Mountain Lions up 3-0 off a Righetti assist at the 37:33 mark.
- YHC outshot the Pacers 23-4, including a 10-1 margin on gol.
- The Mountain Lions recorded eight corner kicks compared to one for USC Aiken.
- Timgren and Kasten combined to record the seventh clean sheet for the Mountain Lions. Timgren had the lone save.
