YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Sondre Olsen and Saad Maziane each scored a goal as No. 12 Young Harris College held off Lander University 2-1 in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Saturday (Sept. 25) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 7-0-0 overall and to 3-0-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Bearcats fell to 5-3-0 and 2-1-0.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• Lander jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Max McNulty played the ball down the right side to Carson Dinger, who blasted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. It was Dinger's first goal.
• Young Harris equalized in the 18th minute as Maziane weaved around a Bearcat defender and found Olsen at the top of the box. Olsen buried the back into the center of the net for his third goal of 2021.
• Maziane gave the Mountain Lions a 2-1 lead at the 31:46 mark as he collected a loose ball, beat the Lander keeper and slid the ball with his left foot just inside the right post for his team-leading seventh goal.
• Lander had a chance to tie the game in the 69th minute when Marco Gueli's shot hit the crossbar and Tom Marriott's follow was blocked by a YHC defender.
• Young Harris and Lander each tallied 11 shots, while the Mountain Lions had a 5-4 edge on shots on goal.
• The Mountain Lions maintained a 6-3 margin on corner kicks.
• Eduardo D'Avino recorded three saves in net for YHC.
• The Mountain Lions hold a 9-4-3 lead in the all-time series with the Bearcats.
• Either Lander or Young Harris has won the Peach Belt title every season since 2012, with the Mountain Lions winning PBC crowns in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019.
