FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's soccer team defeated Emmanuel (Ga.) College Tuesday (Sept. 14) night at the Stephen Lee Complex. 

Young Harris, which is ranked No. 8 in the Southeast region by the United Soccer Coaches,  improved to 3-1-0 while Emmanuel fell to 1-2-0. The Mountain Lions return to play in a 7 p.m. match Saturday (Sept. 18) night against the University of North Georgia in the Battle of Blood Mountain at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field. It is also the Peach Belt opener for both teams.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: 

• Thea Juul put the Mountain Lions on the board just four minutes into the match. Juul's goal - her first of the season - was a shot into high center. 
• Alexis Scarpinato gave Young Harris a 2-0 lead with a shot in the low left corner of the net assisted by Anika Elias with seven minutes remaining in the first half.
• Emmanuel scored their only goal of the game in the 62nd minute shot by Olivia Weider and assisted by Caroline Brown.
• Aimee Durn scored the final Mountain Lion goal three minutes later off a penalty kick. 
• Pien Van Kampen recorded seven saves in goal during the match. 
• Jhena Ellerbe and Brooke Morrison had one shot on goal each. 
• Young Harris led in corner kicks 6-4.
• The Mountain Lions out shot the Lions 16-10 but trailed 8-7 in shots on goal.
