Mountain Lions fall to Nighthawks 1-0

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of North Georgia's early goal gave them a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Sept. 18) night at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field. 

The Mountain Lions fell to 3-2-0 overall and to 0-1-0 in the Peach Belt , while the Nighthawks improved to 2-1-1 overall and 1-0-0. Young Harris returns to play Saturday (Sept. 25) afternoon at 1 p.m. against No. 1-ranked Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. 

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • North Georgia scored their only goal of the night 81 seconds into the match. The goal was scored off a Taylor Malasek shot that was saved by Pien Van Kampen, who couldn't corral the loose ball. Abbie Crane collected the ball and knocked it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. 
  • Thea Juul had three shots on goal for Young Harris, while Morgan Kasel had one. 
  • Britt Verstegen recorded three shots. 
  • Van Kampen had three saves in goal tonight for the Mountain Lions. 
  • The Nighthawks had an advantage in shots 13-8, but tied with the Mountain Lions for shots on goal 4-4. 
  • UNG led in corner kicks 4-2.
