YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College baseball team earned in a spot in the upcoming Peach Belt Conference Tournament as they swept a doubleheader from Augusta University Saturday (May 1) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 22-16 overall and to 20-13 in the PBC after winning by scores of 13-7 and 14-4 (8 innings), while Augusta ended its season at 8-28 and 7-26.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
Game 1
- The Mountain Lions jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three innings. YHC scored twice in the first, five times in the second and three more in the third inning.
- Jackson Jones had an RBI double, while Byrd drove in the other first-inning run on a bases-loaded walk.
- Noah Fitzgerald drove in two runs in the second with a single to left-center field, before Rome Wallace added a three-run homer to right field.
- Worley had an RBI double in the third, while Greer added a sacrifice fly and Cash drove in a run on an infield hit.
- Augusta closed to within three runs at 10-7 in the seventh, but the Mountain Lions thwarted the Jaguar rally with a three-run eighth on back-to-back homers from Cash and Jones. Cash's was a two-run shot to left-center field, while Jones' homer went to right.
- The top four hitters - Worley, Greer, Cash and Jones - each collected two hits.
- Eight of the nine starters for Young Harris had at least one hit.
- Starter McLain Harris improved to 6-2 as he struck out eight in seven innings. Harris made his 72 career appearance on the mound, moving into first place in the YHC record book, passing Tyler Isbell's (2011-14) mark of 71.
- Brody Meeks earned his fifth save of 2021 with two scoreless innings.
Game 2
- The Mountain Lions punctuated Senior Day as Hawkins and Greer each hit grand slams.
- Hawkins's grand slam to right field highlighted a five-run second inning. It was his second long ball of the year.
- Greer, who leads NCAA Division II in home runs, launched his 20th - a grand slam to straight away center field in the sixth inning - to open up a 9-3 lead.
- Young Harris closed the game out early with a five-run eighth inning. Greer stroked a two-run double to right-center, Wallace smacked a two-run homer - his 10th of 2021 - to left field and Brandon Jolliff added a run-scoring triple to right-center.
- Greer led the way with three hits and 6 RBI, while Worley and Hawkins had two hits apiece,
- Reliever Travis Burnette (1-0) allowed just one run over four innings.
