Mountain Lions win pair on Senior Day

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's tennis team won two matches on Senior Day Saturday (April 3) afternoon at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Mountain Lions edged Augusta University 4-3 to pick up a Peach Belt Conference victory in the opener before defeating Piedmont College 5-2 in the nightcap.

Young Harris improved to 7-7 overall and to 3-2 in the Peach Belt.

  • Prior to the match, the Mountain Lions honored their three seniors - Ignacio Ascarrunz, John Brett and Kash Reddiyar.
  • The Mountain Lions earned the doubles point as Ascarrunz and Reddiyar teammed up to win 6-3 at No. 1, while Eric DelValle and Romeo Luque won 6-2 at No. 3.
  • Augusta tied the match at 3 before Reddiyar sealed the win for YHC with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles.
vs. Piedmont
  • Young Harris took the doubles point as they swept all three flights.
  • The Mountain Lions earned wins in the top three flights of singles to clinch the win.
