YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | No. 13 Young Harris College and Emmanuel (Ga.) College split a non-conference softball doubleheader Saturday (March 6) afternoon at the YHC Softball Field.

The Lions took the opener 6-4 before the Mountain Lions used two big innings to take the nightcap 12-0 in five innings.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

Game 1

• Young Harris took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second as they scored two unearned runs. Emily Harris drove in a run on a fielder's choice and Biz Walters had a sacrifice fly.
• The Mountain Lions added a run in the third on an RBI double to right-center field by Natalie Corbin.
• Emmanuel reclaimed the lead 5-4 after posting three runs in the top of the fourth. Pinch hitter Bella Quinn had the big hit as her single to right scored two runs.
• The Lions added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
• Corbin had two of the six hits for Young Harris. 
• Haylie Shope added a double in the seventh for the Mountain Lions.
• Sam Davis (3-2) took the loss for YHC.

Game 2

• The Mountain Lions posted six-run innings in the first and third innings.
• The big hit in the first inning was a grand slam to left field from Maddie Urquiola, who has two long balls in 2021. YHC also scored another run on an error and Carly Risgbee contributed a sacrifice fly.
• In the six-run third, Jill Torres smacked a three-run homer to left field. It was Torres' third homer of the season. Corbin had an RBI double, while Harris and Walters had RBI singles.
• Jill Dixon (3-0) earned the complete-game shutout in the circle for YHC. She scattered four hits and struck out four.
• Harris, Walters and Alanna Dunson led the 10-hit Mountain Lion attack with two hits each.
