Scarpinato's OT winner gives YHC a 1-0 win over FMU

FLORENCE, S.C. | Alexis Scarpinato's goal in overtime gave Young Harris College a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Francis Marion University Monday (March 15) afternoon at Hartzler Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 3-3-0 overall and 3-3-0 in Peach Belt, while the Patriots fell to 2-5-0 and 2-5-0.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Scarpinato scored the lone goal at the 98:24 mark on a corner kick taken by Hannah Behner. Behner's kick soared through the box to Scarpinato, whose header found the back of the net from five yards out. It was Scarpinato's first goal of the season.
  • Pien Van Kampen registered the shutout for the Mountain Lions in goal as she stopped four shots.
  • Young Harris outshot the Patriots 15-8, including an 11-4 margin in the second half and overtime.
  • FMU held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
