Maziane, Mackay lead No. 14 Young Harris past USC Aiken 4-0

AIKEN, S.C. | Saad Maziane and Ben Mackay each scored a goal and assisted on two others as the 14th-ranked Young Harris College men's soccer team shut out the University of South Carolina-Aiken 4-0 in a Peach Belt Conference match Thursday (March 11) evening at the Pacer Pit.

The Mountain Lions improved to 3-1-1 overall and in the conference, while the Pacers fell to 0-1-0 overall and in the league.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Young Harris took a 1-0 lead on a Sondre Olsen strike at the 14:15 mark off a Maziane assist. It was Olsen's fourth goal of the season.
  • The Mountain Lions doubled their lead just under three minutes before the half as Mackay put in a shot in the back of the net off assists from Maziane and Pato Padilla.
  • YHC made it 3-0 when Padilla scored at the 60:32 mark off a double assist from Mackay and Olsen.
  • The Mountain Lions scored their final goal in the 75th minute on a Maziane shot. Tony Barry and Mackay assisted on the goal. It was Maziane's team-leading fifth goal of the year.
  • YHC held a 17-4 edge in shots, including a 10-3 margin on goal.
  • The Mountain Lions doubled up the Pacers on corner kicks 8-4.
  • Eduardo D'Avino registered the shutout in goal for Young Harris as he stopped three shots.
