Maziane's goal gives No. 14 Mountain Lions a 2-1 win over Nighthawks

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Saad Maziane's goal in the 81st minute gave the 14th-ranked Young Harris College men's soccer team a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over their Blood Mountain rival University of North Georgia Monday (March 15) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 4-1-1 overall and to 4-1-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Nighthawks fell to 1-7-0 and 1-7-0.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Maziane's game-winner at the 80:28 mark was set up as Adam Kirkwood sent in a long ball into Quinn Thompson on the right side of the box. Thompson found Maziane open at the left post and Maziane put the ball in the back of the net for his team-leading sixth goal.
  • North Georgia tied the game at 1 eight minutes before halftime.
  • Sondre Olsen gave the Mountain Lions an early 1-0 lead as he scored his fifth goal of the season at the 6:14 mark. Maziane played the ball to Tony Barry at the top of the box. Barry found Olsen open on the right side of the box.
  • YHC held a 13-4 mark on shots, including a 8-2 margin on goal.
  • The Mountain Lions had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
  • Eduardo D'Avino picked up one save in goal for Young Harris.
