Mountain Lions, Patriots battle to 1-1 double overtime draw

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College and Francis Marion University battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw Monday (March 1) evening in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 2-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the PBC, while the Patriots fell to 2-1-2 overall and to 1-1-2 in the PBC.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Young Harris took a 1-0 lead at the 65:27 mark on Saad Maziane's team-leading fourth goal of the season. Ben Mackay and Sondre Olsen assisted on the goal.
  • After a YHC foul just outside the box with 1:46 remaining in regulation, FMU tied the match on Magnus Hoejland's header off Jafet Santiago's free kick.
  • Henrik Timgren registered two saves in his first start in goal this season.
  • The Patriots outshot the Mountain Lions 10-7, but YHC held a 4-3 edge on goal.
  • FMU held a 9-4 margin on corner kicks.
  • The match was physical one as 51 fouls (Young Harris 26, Francis Marion 25) were whistled and eight cards (seven yellow and one red) were issued.
