Columbus State shuts out Young Harris 4-0

COLUMBUS, Ga. | Columbus State University opened up its delayed 2020 women's soccer season with a 4-0 Peach Belt Conference win over Young Harris College Sunday (Feb. 14) afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex.

The Cougars improved to 1-0-0 overall and to 1-0-0 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions slipped to 1-1-0 and 1-1-0.

  • Maddy Peterson score two goals for Columbus State in a four-minute span midway through the first half.
  • Anna Grady and Parker Morgan accounted for the other Cougar goals.
  • Columbus State outshot Young Harris 16-2, including an 8-1 margin on goal.
  • Alexis Scarpinato had both shots for the Mountain Lions.
  • CSU held a 15-4 edge in corner kicks.
  • Pien Van Kampen had four saves in net for YHC. Mckenna Peaster also saw her first collegiate action in goal, playing the final 14:09 for the Mountain Lions.
