GREENWOOD, S.C. | Young Harris College scored three second half goals as the Mountain Lions claimed a 4-1 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer over Lander University Monday (Feb. 1) evening at Van Taylor Stadium in the delayed 2020 seaason opener for both teams.

The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0-0 overall and to 1-0-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Bearcats fell to 0-1-0 and 0-1-0.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • Lander took a 1-0 lead at the 11:53 mark on a direct kick from Kelcie Fisher from just outside the box that went into the upper left-hand corner of the goal.
  • YHC leveled the match at 1 with just under 10 minutes left in the opening half as Thea Juul's shot was redirected by a Lander defender and into the bottom right hand corner.
  • Hannah Behner gave the Mountain Lions the lead for good in the 55th minute. Juul's shot from the left side was deflected off the Lander goalkeeper's hands right to Behner, who was standing at the right post and knocked the ball in the net for the 2-1 lead.
  • Juul added her second goal of the match off a double assist from Aimee Durn and Brooke Morrison at the 66:40 mark to give YHC a 3-1 lead.
  • Morrison tallied the final Mountain Lion goal seven minutes later of a Juul assist.
  • Juul finished her first game in a YHC uniform with two goals and two assists.
  • Young Harris held an 18-7 advantage in shots, including a dominating 10-2 margin in the final 45 minutes.
  • The four goals by the Mountain Lions are the most for YHC in the all-time series against Lander. The Bearcats lead the all-time series 5-4-0, but the Mountain Lions have won the past two meetings.
