YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Crosby James led Anderson (S.C.) University with 27 points as the Trojans held off Young Harris College 75-73 in a non-conference men's basketball contest Saturday (Dec. 18) afternoon at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.
The Trojans improved to 7-5, while the Mountain Lions slipped to 3-7. Young Harris returns Peach Belt Conference action Monday (Dec. 20) when they travel to St. Augustine, Florida, for a 3 p.m. game against Flagler College.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Anderson took their largest lead - eight points (65-57) - after Josh Livingston sank two free throws with 8:50 left in the game.
- Young Harris used a 16-5 run - including 10 unanswered points to end the rally - to take a 73-70 lead after Anterrious Rhyan converted an Anderson turnover into a jumper with 2:28 to play.
- The Trojans took a 74-73 lead after Myles Jenkins and Parker Dortch hit back-to-back buckets with 48.0 seconds left.
- The Mountain Lions had a chance to tie or retake the lead, but Carl Cleveland missed two free throws with 28 seconds left.Â
- Livingston hit the first of two free throws to give Anderson a 75-73 lead with 27 seconds left, but YHC turned the ball over on its next possession and had a three-point chance fall short at the buzzer.
- Rhyan led the Mountain Lions with 13 points, four assists and four rebounds.
- Eden Davis scored 12 points before fouling out.
- Avery Jones and Christian Schach added 10 points each. Jones went 4-of-4 from the field, while Schach was 4-for-5 with two three-pointers.
- Young Harris held a 40-39 edge on the glass with Caleb Towns, who had eight points leading the Mountain Lions with nine, while Cleveland pulled down seven.
