Johnson, Winters lead Mountain Lions in 77-59 victory over Clinton

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's basketball team improved  to 4-0 Saturday (Nov. 20) with a 77-59 victory over Clinton College in their home opener at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center. 

Young Harris hosts Shorter University in a 5 p.m. home game Tuesday (Nov. 23), while the Golden Bears fell to 5-1.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: 
  • Mackenzie Johnson, Niaya White, and Kalen Surles all had double doubles in the victory. Johnson had 29  points and 17 rebounds, while White had 10 and 10, and Surles recorded 10 assists and 15 total rebounds. 
  • Johnson set a career-high record in points scored (29), and Surles set a career-high in total rebounds (15) and assists (10). 
  • Carly Winters scored 18 points for the Mountain Lions and sunk four three-pointers. 
  • Young Harris controlled the glass as the Mountain Lions held a 63-39 advantage in rebounds. 
  • YHC had its biggest lead of the game in the fourth quarter - 24 points (67-43)  - after a Johnson layup with 8:51 remaining. 
  • The Mountain Lions were 12-for-15 at the free throw line.
