Goling scores twice at No. 5 YHC shuts out Flagler 4-0

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Mikkel Goling scored twice to lead No. 5 Young Harris College to a 4-0 Peach Belt Conference men's soccer victory over Flagler College Saturday (Oct. 9) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 11-0-0 overall and to 7-0-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Saints slumped 4-6-0 and 3-4-0. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Oct. 13) when they travel to Dahlonega, Georgia, for a 5 p.m. PBC match against Blood Mountain rival University of North Georgia.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Saad Maziane opened up the scoring for the Mountain Lions at the 16:28 mark off a flick from Sondre Olsen. It was Maziane's eighth strike of the season.
  • The Mountain Lions doubled their lead to 2-0 just over four minutes later. Goling scored in the bottom left corner of the net off a flick from teammate Edoardo Righetti.
  • YHC took a 3-0 lead on another Goling goal at the 24:03 mark. Maziane passed the ball to Goling, who knocked the ball in left side of the net for his seventh goal of 2021.
  • Young Harris closed out the score less than five minutes into the second half as Olsen headed the ball into the right corner of the net off an Adam Kirkwood cross. Val Feeney started the play by throwing the ball in to Kirkwood.
  • Young Harris outshot Flagler 18-7, including a 9-3 advantage on goals.
  • The Mountain Lions collected six corner kicks to the one for the Saints.
  • Henrik Timgren stopped three shots for Young Harris in goal to record his second shutout of the season.
  • YHC has recorded six shutouts this season.
  • The Mountain Lions lead the all-time series with Flagler 9-1-1. Seven of the YHC wins have come via a shutout.
