Jada Griffin led a balanced attack as Young Harris College pulled away from Francis Marion University 59-49 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Sunday (Feb. 9) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Mountain Lions snapped a three-game losing streak as they improved to 13-9 overall and to 7-7 in the Peach Belt, while the Patriots fell to 11-9 and 7-7. The 13 wins is tied for the third most in program history along with the 2012-13 squad. Young Harris continues the homestand Wednesday (Feb. 12) with a 5:30 p.m. PBC contest against Georgia College.
In a game that saw seven lead changes and the score tied six other times, Young Harris led 27-26 at the half. FMU used a 7-2 run to open up a 38-33 lead with 4:30 remaining in the third quarter on a Kristian Wall free throw. However, the Mountain Lions closed the period on a 10-1 run to take a 43-39 lead on a 
Kalen Surles layup.
After a FMU basket to start the final quarter, White nailed a three-pointer and Clemmons followed with layup to give the Mountain Lions a 48-41 lead with 8:59 left. Kiana Adderton got the Patriots within three points (50-47) on a layup with 3:25 to ho, but the Mountain Lions scored the next eight points to take a 58-47 lrad on two 
Carly Winters free throws with 48 seconds left.
Young Harris outrebounded Francis Marion 51-35, including a 17-6 edge on the offensive glass. The Mountain Lions outscored FMU 42-14 in the paint and 21-4 in fastbreak points.
White finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Griffin scored 13 points. Clemmons also tallied 13 points and dished out eight assists. Griffin and Surles each pulled down nine rebounds.
Adderton paced Francis Marion with 25 points and five rebounds.
