YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Troy Cracknell led Augusta University with 29 points and eight rebounds as the Jaguars rallied in the second half and then held off Young Harris College 83-78 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday (Jan. 11) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Jaguars improved to 9-4 overall and to 4-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-10 and 1-4. YHC travels to Milledgeville, Georgia, for an 11:30 a.m. Education Day league contest against Georgia College Wednesday (Jan. 15).
Behind 50 percent shooting (8-of-16) from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes, the Mountain Lions led for the majority of the first half. Young Harris took its largest lead of the game - nine points (37-26) - after
Jacorie Archie hit a three-pointer with 4:54 left in the half.
The Mountain Lions led 42-38 at the half and saw their lead expand to seven (45-38) as
Makiah Fox hit a three-pointer on YHC's first possession of the second half. However, Augusta used a 12-2 run to take a 50-47 lead after Tyree Myers hit a three-pointer with 15:04 to play.
Augusta pushed its lead to 12 points (63-51) after Tyshaun Crawford hit a free throw with 9:16 to go. However, it would be the Mountain Lions time to rally, tying the game at 70 on a
Jonathan King layup with 4:13 left. Cracknell's three-pointer with 92 seconds to play saw the Jaguars open up a 77-72 lead.Â
The closest the Mountain Lions would get the rest of the way was four points (81-77) after
Seth McCoy sank all three free throws with 32 seconds left.Â
Rafael Monteiro added 18 points and eight rebounds for Augusta, which held a 45-33 edge on the glass. Crawford added 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Myers totaled 11 points and 11 assists.
McCoy led the Mountain Lions with 18 points and six rebounds, while Archie added 14 points.

Ryle Owens had 12 points and six assists.
