YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Seba Andreassen scored two goals and assisted on another as the No. 5-ranked Young Harris College men's soccer team shut out Emmanuel (Ga.) College 4-0 in the season opener Thursday (Sept. 5) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0-0, while the Lions fell to 0-1-0. Young Harris will host Tusculum University in a 7 p.m. match Wednesday (Sept. 11). It will be a rematch of last year's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional second round match which Young Harris won 2-1.
Young Harris took control of the match by scoring three goals - two from Andreassen - in a 15-minute span in the opening stages of the first half.
Christian Kirchhoff served the ball to Andreassen at the back post and Andreassen knocked it into the top right corner of the net to give YHC a 1-0 lead at the 3:31 mark.
Ali Koller doubled the Mountain Lions lead at the 14:52 mark as he knocked in a rebound of
Sondre Olsen's initial shot. Andreassen closed out the first half scoring three minutes later as he scored off an
Anthony Gimenes cross from the right side.
The Mountain Lions got their final goal at the 81:41 mark after Andreassen found
Rachaun Palmer, who sent the ball into the right corner of the net from 18 yards out.
Young Harris dominated the Lions in shots (28-6), shots on goal (13-3) and corner kicks (8-2).
Alex Iglesias earned his first clean sheet of the season as he recorded three saves. Giuliano Palma stopped nine saves for Emmanuel.
