YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Five different players found the back of the net as No. 4-ranked Young Harris College shut out Tusculum University 5-0 in a non-conference match Wednesday (Sept. 11) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The game was a rematch between teams that met in last year's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional second round. The Mountain Lions improved to 2-0-0, while the Pioneers fell to 0-2-0. Young Harris hits the road Saturday (Sept. 14) for the first time as they travel to Harrogate, Tennessee, for a 3:30 p.m. match against Lincoln Memorial University.
The Mountain Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the match. Seba Andressen found
Alex Gschwend across the miss and Gschwend buried the ball in the center of the net from 10 yards out at the 4:55 mark.
Ali Koller headed in the second goal after a corner kick by
Dani Fischer five minutes later.
Dan Creese gave YHC a 3-0 lead 10 minutes before halftime as took an Andreassen pass and put the ball in the left corner of the net.
Hayden Tucker knocked in a rebound of his own shot to give the Mountain Lions a 4-0 lead at the 73:42 mark.
Sondre Olsen closed out the scoring with 21 seconds remaining on a penalty kick.
Young Harris outshot the Pioneers 19-10, including 13-6 on goal. The Mountain Lions held an 8-5 advantage on corner kicks.
Alex Iglesias recorded his second shutout of the season as he turned away six Tusculum shots. Â
