MARS HILL, N.C. | The Young Harris College women's tennis team didn't drop a match to open the season Sunday (Sept. 15) at the Hart Tennis Complex.
The Mountain Lions improved to 2-0 as they shut out Lees-McRae College 4-0 in the opening match before closing out a 7-0 victory over Mars Hill University in the second contest. Young Harris will open the home portion of its schedule Wednesday (Sept. 18) when they entertain Emmanuel (Ga.) College in a 4 p.m. match at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
Against the Bobcats, the Mountain Lions swept all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Young Harris claimed victories at the first three flights of singles to close out the match.
Jing Dong won a hard-fought match at No. 1 singles in three sets before
Carol Quevedo clinched the match at No. 3 singles in straight sets,
Against the Lions, YHC didn't drop a set in any match. The Mountain Lions clinched the match when Dong won 7-5 in a second-set tiebreaker to win No. 1 singles.
