YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College competitive cheerleaders prepare for the National Cheerleaders Association Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship April 3-7 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The large coed team, despite having to compete in the hardest division, earned a silver bid for nationals last August at the NCA Cheerleading Camp in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The preliminary round takes place on Thursday (April 4) from 11 a.m. to noon with the finals on Friday (April 5) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. The Mountain Lions will be competing in the Division II Large Coed group. Young Harris will be competing for a national championship against Lindenwood University, Columbus State University and Grand Valley State University.
"This is one of the hardest workings groups I have had here at Young Harris," said head coach
Jason Williams. "I'm going to miss this senior class and their leadership."
This is the seventh consecutive year that Young Harris has made the trip to nationals and the fifth time the Mountain Lions have earned a silver bid. The large coed team finished in third place at the 2017 championship.
