.YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville scored three consecutive goals late in the fourth quarter to break up a tie game and go on to defeat Young Harris College 10-8 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference men's lacrosse match on a rainy, damp Saturday (April 20) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Chargers ended their season at 4-8 overall and to 2-4 in the league, while the Mountain Lions were eliminated from making the GLVCÂ Tournament with the loss and ended their season at 6-7 and 2-4.
Young Harris took a 5-4 lead with 4:33 left in the third quarter when
Jimmy Martelli scored off a
Bevan Pate assist; however, UAH scored the next three goals to take a 7-5 lead with 13:04 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Mountain Lions leveled the match at 7 with 6:23 to play as
Bruce Silk scored back-to-back goals in a 40-second span.
The Chargers would scored three unanswered goals from Jacob Glen, Josh Campbell and Caleb Merrow to open up a 10-7 advantage with 3:12 left. Young Harris got a goal from
Cody Bielec with 64 seconds remaining off a Martelli assist, but couldn't draw any closer.
Martelli and Silk would lead the Mountain Lions with three goals apice, while Bielec added two. Pate and
Daniel Zimny each assisted on two goals, while
Bobby Kidd III,
Parker Lamarque and Martelli had one.
Eric Lemire had nine face-off wins for YHC, while Kidd,
Tyler Oglesby, Zimny and
Patrick Phelan each scooped up three ground balls.
Mason King stopped 20 shots in goal for the Mountain Lions.
