PEMBROKE, N.C. | Young Harris College swept a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Saturday (March 16) at the UNCP Softball Field.
Young Harris took the opener 2-1 before winning game two 10-1 in five innings. The Mountain Lions improved to 16-8 overall and 2-0 in the PBC, while the Braves fell to 8-16 and 0-4. Young Harris travels to Florence, South Carolina, Sunday (March 17) for a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Francis Marion University at the FMU Softball Stadium.

Jill Torres made it a 2-0 game in the top of the sixth inning with RBI single to shortstop that scored
Kristan Lizardi.
Nikkie Kovalsky (12-7) picked up the win for Young Harris as she pitched a complete game allowing one run on three hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
Harris collected two hits and a RBI, while Torres had one hit and one RBI.
Biz Walters had two hits and Lizardi tallied one hit and a run scored.
Malerie Leviner (4-8) earned the loss for the Braves as she gave up two runs on seven hits with four walks and nine strikeouts in six innings pitched.
Jill Torres started the scoring in game two for the Mountain Lions with a two RBI double to right center. Urquiola made it a 4-1 game in the top of the second with a two-run homer to center field, her first of the season.
Young Harris scored two runs in each of the last three innings to take a 10-1 lead over UNCP.
Louisa Disi (3-1) picked up the win as she allowed one run on five hits with eight strikeouts in five innings pitched.
Urquiola went 1-for-1 at the plate with three RBI, two walks, and a run scored. Curley finished with two RBI, while Torres had one hit, two RBI, and a run scored.
