MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Desmond Mitchell-LaFlam scored 18 points to lead six Georgia College players in double figures as the Bobcats defeated Young Harris College 91-74 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday (Feb. 27) evening at the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats improved to 16-11 overall and to 11-10 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 12-15 and 10-11. Young Harris wraps up its regular season Saturday (March 2) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena with a 3:30 p.m. PBC game against No. 6 University of South Carolina-Aiken. Nicksen Blanc and
James Laput in Senior Day activities.
Georgia College used a 24-5 run over the final 8:44 of the first half that turned a 33-31 advantage into a 57-36 lead at the half. Mitchell-LaFlam made three three-pointers and scored 11 points for the Bobcats during the decisive stretch.
Mitchell-LaFlam also grabbed six rebounds, while Isaac Thomas added 17 points and seven rebonds. Kohl Roberts added 16 points, while Jordan Thomas (14), Justin Cave (13) and Chapin Rierson (10) also finished in double figures for the Bobcats.
Ray Reeves led Young Harris with a career-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds, while
Brian Harper had 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. Blanc and
Seth McCoy also scored 12 points each for the Mountain Lions.
