YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Zavier Lushington hit two home runs and totaled four RBI on the day as Young Harris College swept a non-conference baseball doubleheader from Clark Atlanta University Tuesday (Feb. 26) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Mountain Lions took the opener 7-0 before winning game two 8-0. Young Harris hosts Cedarville University Thursday (Feb. 28) in a 5 p.m. contest. The Mountain Lions improved to 8-6, while the Panthers fell to 4-8.
Young Harris struck first in game one with a RBI double by
Cole Jackson in the first inning. The Mountain Lions added three more runs in the first inning that concluded with a two RBI double to left center by
Brett Hawkins.
Lushington hit his second home run of the season over the center field fence in the fourth inning to give Young Harris a 5-0 lead. Jackson picked up his second RBI of the game with a single through the left side in the sixth inning.
Bailey Campbell made it a 7-0 lead for YHC with a double to center field that scored Lushington.
Kyle Turner (1-2) picked up his first win of the season for the Mountain Lions as he allowed no runs on one hit with two strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Lushington went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and three runs scored. Campbell tallied three hits, one RBI, and a run scored. Jackson finished with two hits, two RBI, and a run scored, while Hawkins had a hit and two RBI.
Cedon Langguth earned the loss for the Panthers as he gave up seven runs on nine hits with six walks and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched.
Dahlton Cash and
Tristin Smith each collected two RBI in the first inning of game two as part of a five run inning. Lushington made it an 8-0 lead for the Mountain Lions with a three run homer to left center.
Tucker Daniel (1-0) picked up his first win of the season as he allowed two walks and struck out four over two innings pitched.
Lushington tallied a hit, three RBI, and two runs scored. Cash and Smith each had one hit, two RBI, and a run scored.
Corley Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored.
Anthony Nettles earned the loss for Clark Atlanta as he gave up eight runs on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts in five innings pitched.
