No. 25 Patriots rally in second half for win over Mountain Lions

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Brandon Parker scored 26 points  of his game-high 32 points to lead No. 25 Francis Marion University past Young Harris College 104-92 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Monday (Feb. 18) evening at the YHC Basketball Arena.

The Patriots improved to 18-5 overall and 14-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 11-14 and 9-10. Young Harris closes out the three-game homestand Saturday (Feb. 23) with a 3:30 p.m. PBC contest against Columbus State University.

Young Harris led 49-44 at the half and extended it to eight points (52-44) after Ray Reeves hit a three-pointer 19 seconds into the second half. Francis Marion battled back to tie the game at 66 on a Winston Hill layup with 12:20 remaining. That jumpstarted  a 22-5 run by the Patriots that saw them open up a 15-point lead (86-71) on a Douglas Dwight three-pointer with 8:27 to go. Francis Marion hit five three-points - three by Dwight and two from Parker - during the decisive run.

The closest the Mountain Lions would get the remainder of the way was 10 points (95-85) after Justin Jones sank a jumper with 2:05 left.

Parker led Francis Marion, who shot 51.3 percent from three-point range (20-of-39), with 32 points on 9-of-12 shooting (8-of-11 from three-point range). Jaquez Smith finished with 17 points, while Hill (15), Dwight (12) and Ryan Davis (11) all finished in double figures. Davis recorded a double double with 11 assists.
