YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Daniel Carr and Jermaine Patterson each scored 22 points to lead No. 8-ranked Queens University of Charlotte to a 110-96 non-conference victory over Young Harris College Friday (Nov. 8) evening at the YHC Basketball Arena.

It was the season opener for both teams. Young Harris will host Lenoir-Rhyne University at 4 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 9)

Queens took its largest lead of the game - 16 points (51-35) - on a Jordan Oakley layup with 3:49 left in the opening 20 minutes. The Mountain Lions clawed themselves back into the contest as they used a 15-3 run over the next three minutes to close within four points (54-50) on a Kristian Collins jumper with 29 seconds before the half. Collins scored five of the points during the rally.

The Royals pushed their lead back to eight points (67-59) on a Van Turner, Jr., three-pointer with 16:58 left. However, the Mountain Lions reeled off 10 unanswered points to take their first lead since the opening minute at 69-67 on a Jonathan King fastbreak layup with 15:01 to go. King had five points during the YHC run.

The game would be a one-possession game for nearly the next seven minutes until the Royals put together a 14-3 run to open up a 104-92 on a Kenny Dye layup with 3:35 remaining.

Smith finished with 17 points for Queens, while Jay'Den Turner had seven rebounds.
