No. 15 Mountain Lions march by Saints 4-0

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's soccer team extended their win streak to five as the 15th-ranked Mountain Lions shut out Flagler College 4-0 in a Peach Belt Conferenc match Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 10-3-0 overall and remained tied for first place in the Peach Belt at 4-1-0. The Saints fell to 2-11-1 and 1-4-0. Young Harris will entertain its Blood Mountain rival University of North Georgia Wednesday (Nov. 6) at 7 p.m.

Young Harris opened up a 1-0 lead at the 32:32 mark when Dan Creese knocked in a rebound of Seba Andreassen's initial shot. It was Creese's third brace of the year.

The Mountain Lions doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute. Jordan Mills sent a ball into the box from the left side that Sondre Olsen redirected into the left corner of the net with his foot. It was Olsen's PBC-leading 11th strike of 2019. Val Feeney, who was one of three seniors recognized prior to the match, made the score 3-0 at the 62:43 mark when he took a cross from Anthony Gimenes and blasted a goal into the left corner of the net from 30 yards out. It was Feeney's first goal of 2019.

Young Harris got its final goal in the 78th minute on an own goal.after a Saints defender knocked the ball into the goal as he was trying to clear it.

Defender Dani Fischer and goalkeeper Alex Iglesias, who were both recognized prior to the match, led the Mountain Lions  to their fifth shutout of the season. For Iglesias, it was his 18th career clean sheet.

Young Harris outshot Flagler 14-1 (10-0 on goal) and held an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks. Flagler goalkeeper Andrea Lubbia picked up seven saves.
