AMERICUS, Ga. | Eline Sand scored the game-winning goal in double overtime as Young Harris College defeated Georgia Southwestern State University 1-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Sunday (Oct. 20) afternoon at Hurricane Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 5-6-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the PBC, while the Hurricanes fell to 3-9-1 and 0-6-0. Young Harris hosts Georgia College Wednesday (Oct. 23) in a 6 p.m. PBC contest at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
Sand scored the lone goal of the game in the 104th minute off an assist from
Aimee Durn.
The Mountain Lions outshot Georgia Southwestern 22-14 and held an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks.
Pien Van Kampen recorded her third clean sheet of the season as she tallied five saves in goal for Young Harris. Hannah Morrone picked up seven saves between the pipes for the Hurricanes.
