YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Sondre Olsen scored twice and
Seba Andreassen's game-winner in the 75th minute was the difference as Young Harris College upset No. 11 Lander University 3-2 in a Peach Belt Conference match on a rainy Saturday (Oct. 19) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 8-3-0 overall and to 2-1-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Bearcats fell to 6-3-2 and to 2-1-0. Lander or Young Harris has won the Peach Belt title since 2012. Young Harris will hit the road next Saturday (Oct. 26) for a 3:30 p.m. league contest against Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia.
Olsen got Young Harris in the scoring column just 48 seconds into the match as he took a a cross from Dani FIscher and slotted the ball into the left side of the net. Olsen scored his PBC leading ninth goal 14 minutes later off a pass from Van Feeney to double the Mountain Lion advantage.
The Bearcats responded less than a minute later on a Georgia Knight goal to cut the deficit in half. Lander tied it right before intermission on a Max Bolton scored thatr careemed off the right post and into the goal.
Young Harris took the 3-2 lead at the 74:21 mark when
Ali Koller's shot off a corner kick was saved by Lander goalkeeper Jacon Withers, but Andreassen, who is second in the league in goals with seven, collected the loose ball and deposited it in the left corner of the net.
Young Harris held a 12-11 edge in shots on goal and the teams each had seven corner kicks.
Alex Iglesias collected four saves in goal for the Mountain Lions, while Withers had three.
