COLUMBUS, Ga. | Young Harris College fell to Columbus State University 61-49 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday (Jan. 26) afternoon at the Lumpkin Center.
The Cougars improved to 9-7 overall and 6-6 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-15 and 1-11. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Jan. 30) as they play host to Georgia College in a 5:30 p.m. PBC contest at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Mountain Lions held a 15-12 advantage after the first quarter, but were held to just five points in the second to be down 25-20 at halftime.
Elle Hutchinson made a layup 3:12 into the fourth quarter to cut the Cougar lead to a single point (44-43). Columbus State ended the game on a 17-6 run.
Pamela Diokpara recorded a double-double for the Mountain Lions with a career-high 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor and 11 rebounds, while
Sarah Woghiren tallied nine points and four rebounds.
Haylie Shope had five points and grabbed six rebounds, while
Sarah Reid totaled seven rebounds.
Khari Jernigan recorded 13 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars, while Tatiana Wayne tallied 13 points and three rebounds. Naomi Holloway had 12 points and LeeAysia Williamson had 11 points.
